The factory restore performs the following actions when given a go

-There are two options provided
1) Restore settings only (which includes ringtones,
wallpaper, message tones etc)
2) Restore all (does the above operation plus deletion of data stored in the phone)

So, before restoring, have a back up of your data by copying the files to a pen drive to prevent data loss.
